ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg (PAL) announces the appointment of Doug Linder as its new Executive Director.
Linder, with a long career in managing non-profit organizations serving children and families, began working with PAL last January, serving as the agency’s contract administrator.
The decision to offer Linder a permanent position was made at the PAL Board meeting in June, and became effective July 7.
“We are very fortunate to have Doug Linder as the Executive Director for St. Pete PAL,” said Colby Masterson, chairman of the PAL Board, in announcing the decision. “Doug has a proven history of success and a strong sense of community. He’s the perfect fit for our organization and his leadership will allow PAL to serve more children and work towards fulfilling our mission — crime prevention through athletics, education and recreation.”
Linder’s career includes top leadership positions at four non-profit agencies, ranging from 12 employees to over 360, with annual budgets ranging from $200,000 to $8.5 million.
He enjoyed a career of more than 30 years with the YMCA, working for that agency in Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Illinois. He came to Florida to work for the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg in 1998, and helped to raise the funds to build the organization’s new building in 2001. In 2008, he launched Linder & Associates Consulting, a private firm specializing in business funding and non-profit organization management.
Linder is a past President and CEO of the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Advisory Board of the St. Petersburg College Applied Ethics Institute. He is a former member and a past Chairman of the Citizen’s Advisory Council for the St. Petersburg Police Department, and is a past President of the Grand Central District in St. Petersburg.
