Oh, Billie. There's not a sentimental phrase in that whole story. These are honest tears. Wow.

[...] Bob McCann, Warehouse You won’t find this chapbook, I expect. It was self-published by Bob in the early nineties. Frankly, he over edited the titular poem, Warehouse. But listening to him read its various iterations at the weekly poetry group we attended was incredible. It was filled with lines and images that blew away this young would be poet (or poet who was young then; funny to think that I am almost now the same age he was then). I haven’t seen hide nor hair of him in years. I don’t even know if he still lives in St Petersburg, Florida. You’ll find a brief reference to him and to the poem here.
I loved Bob's poem - 'Warehouse.'

Miss those days (even if I was just a dumb high school kid, at the time; and I'm not sure I've grown much wiser).

I like the total immersion approach. At times, I wish my parents were deaf. However, I am fortunate for who they are. However, learning American Sign Language took a lot of time and effort. I applaud you for hiring an ASL instructor. I currently teach ASL in a local public high school. Many of my students will hopefully become interpreters one day. We need more interpreters out there.

I met Diane at the Suncoast Writers Conference in 1993 where we volunteered at the registration table. Over a number of years she shared with me whispers of who was who in the new-to-me world of writing, mostly old friends of hers. As I struggle to learn the craft, she was always ready with a bit of well-needed criticism to get me back on track. I will miss her.
