Well, two stars, actually.
I attended an Office Warming Party this afternoon for Birgit Wilhelm at her new business digs in the Smart Sixty-Six Office Community, and Birgit really did herself proud!
People started arriving close to 4 pm, and by the time I had to leave a little after 5, faces familiar and unknown to me were all over the place.
This was Birgit’s day to shine, and shine she did!
Birgit is an insurance agent with HealthMarkets, and in October Florida’s Medicaid program accepts new enrollees. But the big push comes in November, when open enrollment begins for the Affordable Care Act.
I don’t envy her the rush or the confusion that accompanies all that!
It was obvious that the people who turned out to help Birgit celebrate her new office (and, incidentally, bring non-perishable food items to help feed hungry kids in our schools—Birgit’s way of asking us all to “give back”) that Birgit is a networker of no mean skill, and a well-regarded friend to a wide circle of people.
What a pleasure this was!
My next stop was an art reception for LeAnn McCann (wife of BFF Bob).
It was the first public showing of her work, and it couldn’t have been a nicer exhibit!
Community Café in St. Pete issued a Call For Entries of artwork with a scary, horrorific, or Halloween theme, and that’s right up LeAnn’s alley.
She and Bob took samples of her Dark Shadowboxes, and they were immediately accepted into the show.
It’s not a competition—it’s a gallery sale! Owner Mandy has chops as an interior designer, and the way she displayed the many artworks of artists working in a variety of media is really impressive.
LeAnn’s work meshes well with the paintings and photography and mixed media of the other artists, and it was a real rush to see her chatting it up with other artists after the picture-taking part was over.
I am so lucky to be in these circles of friends!Share on Facebook
